Laroz Returns to Harabe with ‘Sofa Surfing’ EP
It’s been busy year in the studio for Laroz. Following a string of critically acclaimed releases on the likes of Connected Frontline, Sincopat, Exploited, NiaSounds and his very own Camel Riders imprint, the in-demand producer now looks to continue 2024 in style, as he lands on Harabe with his incredible new two-track EP, Sofa Surfing. Out now, the Sofa Surfing EP marks Laroz’s eagerly anticipated return outing on the Istanbul-based imprint, following his remix of Majnoon’s ‘Bharama’ back in 2020.
First up, we’re treated to the brooding title track ‘Sofa Surfing’. Exploring the darker side of his repertoire, Laroz layers organic drum patters with sweeping pads and ethereal piano refrains, as he inaugurates the EP in style with a mesmerising dancefloor cut. A wonderfully nuanced underground house record, drawing on complex textures, longing melodic riffs and immaculate production values, this is Laroz at his very best.
On the flip, Laroz teams up with Tel Aviv-based vocalist and long-time collaborator SHEERA for the EP’s closer ‘Time With You’. Tantalising the listener with their expert manipulation of tribal polyrhythms, delicate synth work and an infectious topline, Laroz and SHEERA pull out all the stops with this fitting finale, as they close out an emphatic debut EP release on Harabe.
With a career marked by a deep understanding and exploration of diverse musical genres, Laroz has established himself as a trailblazer in the electronic music world. His music seamlessly blends contemporary tech house, deep house, and dance club music with the evocative sounds of his Mediterranean roots. Laroz’s extensive discography includes releases on esteemed labels such as Diynamic, Sol Selectas, Selador, Exploited, Frau Blau and his own imprints, Man House and Camel Riders. His unique sound has earned him a place among the top echelons of the music industry, with tracks frequently appearing on Beatport’s Techno and Progressive House charts and being played by renowned DJs like DJ Solumun, Acid Pauli, and Unders.
