After ‘Komodo’ & ‘Lizard’, ‘Iguana’ was the third in Italian maestro / scene pioneer Mauro Picotto’s turn-of-the-millennium ‘reptile trilogy’. It’s also one that’s held a unique position in the mind of Mark Sherry, with his epic, thirty-track-strong second artist album ‘TH3RTY’ providing the perfect platform with which to pay homage.
Indeed, Mark carved out a full section of ‘TH3RTY’ to ‘remix-recognise’ some of the tracks most influential to his sound, with his rework of Westbam’s ‘Wizards Of The Sonic’ leading the charge in January. As spring rolls in, Sherry’s channelled plenty of Picotto’s tech-trance spirit into the TH3RTY remix’s forging drums, blistering snares, offbeat bass and technotic percussion. As its “get this place” battle cry builds, and the floor-havoc unfolds, Mark unloads ‘Iguana’s KISS-the-sky mainline, delivering the mix its coup-de-grace club moment.
With Mark’s Outburst label lighting its tenth candle this month, and none other than Mauro himself hailing the TH3RTY version as his “favourite remix of the track ever”, there’s never been a better time to get yourself an ‘Iguana’!
