Mia Sanchez unveils brand new track ‘Can’t Have It’
Raised from downtown Toronto, Mia Sanchez is a multifaceted artist with something to prove, and her latest release ‘Can’t Have It’ is her most impressive yet.
The bilingual singer-songwriter weaves between English and Spanish on the track, oozing cool as she maneuvers the course of the flow. Produced by Godflow, its peppered percussion, sultry synths and hints of Latin pop marry to make the melody, with a broody undercurrent that is bold and bossy. “Can’t Have It is about knowing your worth and knowing when to say no when you know someone’s intentions aren’t pure” Mia elaborates, and the no-nonsense lyricism exhibits her powerful attitude.
Counting her inspirations as Jhené Aiko, Jessie Reyez and Alessia Cara, her soulful, sincere style can be traced back to their familiar flairs. Following on from the release of her debut studio single ‘Frio’ in November, which has surpassed 17,000 streams on Spotify alone, Mia continues to pen songs that resonate with others, as she takes her own personal experiences and allows them to conduct the narrative. Having performed at a multitude of Toronto’s most iconic venues, including Mod Club, CNE and Toronto Life Garden Party, through the city’s most renowned female artist development program ‘Honey Jam’ in 2017, she has since been perfecting her artistry and refining her sound to emerge the extraordinary artist she is today.
With sophomore single ‘Can’t Have It’ a mightily impressive follow-up, and with more releases on the horizon, it looks set to be a stellar year ahead for Mia Sanchez.
