Mihalis Safras’s Afrodance EP Lands on Moon Harbour
Moon Harbour’s next essential offering marks a long overdue debut for Greek-born tech house tastemaker Mihalis Safras.
Safras has put out some 75 EPs and four albums in a hugely prolific career that dates back almost fifteen years. In that time, he also founded and established his Material Series label before moving on in 2012. He is a frequent award winner for not only his studio work but DJ sets which draw on a wide range of house, tech, techno and prog styles. He has released on a wide array of the day’s most vital labels from Relief to Sola and now continues that with a suitably big debut on Moon Harbour.
He kicks off his latest dance floor transmission with the excellent ‘Afrodance,’ which is a wild six-minute trip into big drums, samples and drops. The whole thing bristles with energy, rolling toms and vocal yelps that really get you on your toes and punching the air. It’s summery, tribal music to make an indelible mark.
The second sizzling offering is ‘Down Down’ which again brings plenty of lively sounds to a restless arrangement. Low frequencies, darkened male spoken words and freaky effects all make it a cosmic party built on forceful grooves that cannot fail to shake the dance floor.
These are two party-ready weapons once more from the always inventive mind of Mihalis Safras
