Podcast 010: Alesso Live at Ushuaia, Ibiza for Radio 1

On Friday night, Alesso took to the stage to open the prestigious annual Radio 1 Ibiza event at Ushuaia playing a storming set and exclusively announcing two UK live dates for December 2013. Alesso will be headlining the O2 Academy in Glasgow and the legendary O2 Academy Brixton, London, on the 20th and 21st December respectively.

Refune Records boss Sebastian Ingrosso also appeared on stage with Alesso at the Radio 1 event, following an incredible back 2 back set together on Wednesday at Departures, Ushuaia.

The crowds at Ushuaia were treated to 30 minutes of current & future anthems from Alesso, including recent collaboration with One Republic ‘If I Lose Myself’, last year’s ‘Hottest Record of the year’ (as voted by the Radio 1’s Zane Lowe show) ‘Calling (Lose My Mind)’, Sebastian Ingrosso’s  recent chart hit ‘Reload’, Don Diablo’s recent release ‘Starlight’ as well as the exclusive world premiere of Alesso’s new track with Calvin Harris and Hurts- ‘Under Control’.

Following two sold out Easter Weekend shows in the UK and his spectacular performance at the first ever EDC London last month, Alesso will be returning to the UK once again for the two dates (Glasgow O2 Academy & London O2 Academy Brixton) towards the end of the year. The shows will round off an extremely busy year for Alesso, to say the least. Having got tours of India, South America and North America under his belt in the first half of the year, along with a momentous performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami, the second half of the year saw him embark on a three-month long run of shows taking him from his native Sweden to New York and just about everywhere in between. As well as joining Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso for a number of performances at their Departures residency at Ushuaia, Ibiza, Alesso has started a series of festival dates including the first ever EDC London, Tomorrowland, Balaton Sound, Sudoeste, Creamfields and Electric Zoo in New York.

This is not to forget his time spent in the studio either, with the release of his remix of OneRepublic’s ‘If I Lose Myself’ quickly racking up millions of plays and hitting the No.1 spot on Beatport, as well as the more recent release of the anthemic ‘City Of Dreams’, his collaboration with Dirty South and featuring Ruben Haze.
