Red Bull Music Academy and Soundcrash present Theo Parrish Live

Gearing up for the festival in July, Lovebox joins forces with Red Bull Music Academy and Soundcrash to announce two live shows with Theo Parrish, in London and Manchester.  The shows will fall days ahead of his headline performance on the Red Bull Music Academy stage at Saturday’s Lovebox, as part of his Teddy’s Get Down tour.

The word legend is overused. Theo Parrish is a legend in the full meaning of the word. Over the past two decades he has come to be regarded as a true great in electronic and soul music.  A graduate of the Detroit underground, Theo is famed for his own seamlessly genre-hopping productions as well as for his impeccable and inscrutable skills as a music selector, with sets swerving dangerously between house, funk, disco and techno and more.

Theo, whose organic-sounding machine-based dance music incorporates live instruments, human voices and looped recordings, returns to the live arena with full band for the first time in 10 years. The line-up features soul/funk singer songwriter Amp Fiddler (keys), Akwasi Mensah (bass), Duminie DePorres (electric guitar) and Myele Manzanza (drums) alongside Parrish on beats and keys.  They will be revisiting Sound Signature classics old and new.

Theo comments, ‘Whatupdoe, greetings from Detroit. London, Lovebox, Manchester, see you at the Red Bull Music Academy stage this summer, it’s going down.’

The collaboration between Lovebox and Red Bull Music Academy follows from 2013’s “True Loves” event at The Forum which saw Studio 54 resident Nicky Siano, disco perennials Chic featuring Nile Rodgers and legendary DJs Derrick Carter, Seth Troxler and DJ Pierre all grace the same bill.  2014 also sees Red Bull Music Academy back for another year at Lovebox.

Over the course of the weekend the Red Bull Music Academy Stage hosts some of the biggest names in electronic music. On Saturday, sets come from Deviation top dog Benji B, veteran junglist Randall, and the insatiably energetic Gaslamp Killer. Kenny Dope unleashes his Disco Fever set whilst Dimitri From Paris, nu-disco maestro Tensnake, London’s own Horse Meat Disco and eclectic Boston boys Soul Clap each bring their own signature party sounds. Expect the unexpected from London producer and Red Bull Music Academy alumnus Throwing Snow and Zinc & Tippa, along with house grooves courtesy of rising star and fellow Red Bull Music Academy graduate Doc Daneeka.
