Reggae Roast Courtyard Carnival II
Reggae Roast and Ministry of Sound are presenting Reggae Roast Courtyard Carnival II, the second summer reggae event in the club’s The Courtyard.
The afternoon and evening session on Saturday 11th July features Trojan Sound System, General Levy, DJ Vadim, Ragga Twins and Ghost Writerz.
Trojan Sound System has become an institution in British sound system culture, representing the original ska and reggae record label. The crew features legendary selectors Earl Gateshead, who has worked with Cutty Ranks, Big Youth and Dr Alimantado and Daddy Ad who has worked with Eek-A-Mouse, Tappa Zukie and Horace Andy, together with MCs Superfour, Chucky Bantan and Jah Buck.
Also sharing the stage will be esteemd original jungle DJ & MC, General Levy, known for playing dubwise jungle, dancehall, digidub, bashment and conscious breakbeat. Also appearing on the bill will be legendary jungle MCs The Ragga Twins aka Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman, who were featured vocalists on the Skrillex album ‘Recess’.
Ninja Tune artist, DJ Vadim is a veteran DJ and producer combining hip-hop, soul, reggae and electronica. Born in Leningrad and raised in London, he currently resides in both New York and Berlin. Also on the bill are Ghost Writerz aka duo, Harry ‘Sleepy Time Ghost’ Metcalfe and Jason ‘Jimmy Screech’ Bradshaw. Their pioneering sound system fuses reggae, hip-hop and jungle with virtuoso playing of instruments to great effect.
Also in residence will be magicians, food stalls including Mamas Jerk http://www.mamasjerkstation.com as well as indoor/outdoor bars. Anyone attending Doorly & Friends nighttime event at Ministry of Sound on Saturday 11th July will be admitted for free at Reggae Roast.
