Rising talent SANJAY teases debut LP with ‘Waiting For The Sun’

‘Waiting For The Sun’ is the new single from the multi-genre, rising talent, SANJAY. The producer and multi-instrumentalist has paved the way for its arrival on 7th July with two faultless remixes; a superb, soul-funk inspired rework by ViVA label head Steve Lawler, and a French house inspired re-rub by Hungarian artist, Myon. Now it’s time for SANJAY to let the original shine in all its experimental, indie dance glory, as he builds up to the release of his debut album ‘Ancestral Visions’ later this year.

Residing in the Joshua Tree desert in California, SANJAY is still a relatively new name by all accounts, but the innovative artist has been winning fans since the release of his debut ‘Initiation’ EP in 2021. That fan pool features the revered producers Davi of Crosstown Rebels and the Grammy-nominated Zoo Brazil, who’ve both remixed tracks from the forthcoming LP.

SANJAY’s guiding principle is ‘Music is Medicine’, a theme evident in his spiritual, sun-kissed sounds that have seen him headline on the Playa at the legendary Burning Man as well as tour the world with members of the Gypsy Kings.

A dexterous DJ, engineer, guitarist and singer, SANJAY is adept at a wide range of styles that mix live and electronic elements, with him at helm across all instrument and production duties.

The new single ‘Waiting For The Sun’ showcases the best of both worlds from SANJAY’s studio – his love of bendy, trippy electronic sounds, through to his skills as a guitarist and pianist. Both pulsing and uplifting and with a wild female vocal to complement SANJAY’s own performance, ‘Waiting For The Sun’ is danceable and euphoric.

This provides a great teaser for SANJAY’s debut album ‘Ancestral Visions’ this November, which combines pop culture and spirituality, drawing inspiration from Nine Inch Nails, Prince, Tame Impala, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Neil Young and Kanye West.

The genesis of ‘Ancestral Visions’ took shape during SANJAY’s expedition into the depths of the Peruvian Amazon. Upon returning, he embarked on a personal journey performing, recording, mixing and producing at ARC Studios in Nebraska (owned by Bright Eyes). Sanjay offered his heart and soul to this album, showcasing the powerful force that lies within each of us, weaving transcendent musical and lyrical elements with the belief that music is medicine.
