On 1st January, Spotify UK launched the debut episode of Rob da Bank's monthly ‘In Residence’ show.
Rob da Bank said “As ever at the start of a year there are so many incredible new artists and producers churning out fresh, revolutionary new styles and 2016 is no different. Its always good to be broadcasting those to as many people as possible and I’m really chuffed to be on Spotify with that simple aim… to share a couple of hours of brand new music from across the globe”
Joining a host of hand-picked artists, award-winning festival owner and curator Rob da Bank [Bestival, Bestival Toronto, Camp Bestival, Common People and London Electronic Arts Festival] is the latest guest star to curate a show as part of Spotify’s In Residence series. The founder of Sunday Best Recordings – the home to the music career of David Lynch and Kitty Daisy & Lewis – Rob has made a huge contribution to independent music and culture, from his decade as BBC Radio 1’s leftfield broadcaster to his continuing role as part of the BBC family with regular guest spots on BBC 6 Music. Rob da Bank joins Jungle, Mike Skinner & Murkage Dave, legendary Sex Pistol Steve Jones, Big Narstie, Popjustice, Mixmag and more, as part of Spotify's In Residence team.
Appearing on the first of each calendar month, da Bank’s new series launches with a Tips of 2016 special featuring new music from the likes of Vince Staples, Beirut, Plastikman, Beach House and Benjamin Damage. The residency will continue throughout the year showcasing an eclectic mix of worldwide chill, grime, hip-hop, techno and house, all looking ahead to the very best new music.
