Marking his fourth release in quick succession, UK vocalist Sam Tompkins has collaborated with Midlands grime high-flyer Jaykae on new single ‘Faded’.
Contrasting dark undertones warning against the negative aspects of drug use on mental health with more playful sonic aspects, ‘Faded’ sees Tompkins deliver his trademark blend of hard-hitting lyrics and sparse trap beats with Jaykae adding a rapid-fire verse.
Filmed in the unassuming confines of a corner shop, the official video sees Tompkins hallucinating and visualising a number of dark yet humorous scenarios as he struggles to navigate his way around the store.
‘Faded’ completes ‘From My Sleeve To The World’, Sam’s debut EP out now on Island Records. It sits alongside singles ‘Follow Suit’, a gut-wrenching tribute to a friend lost to suicide, and ‘You Broke My Heart So Gently’, a sombre reflection on love lost, as well as EP tracks ‘Wishing Wells (Talk)’ and ‘Critical’.
Sam also recently announced a six-date UK tour to mark the EP release, with performances in Dublin (11th), Glasgow (12th), Manchester (14th), London (15th), Brighton (16th) and Bristol (17th) lined up for November.
The stand-out track from an already impressive EP, ‘Faded’ sees Sam Tompkins at his bold, hard-hitting best.
‘From My Sleeve To The World’ is out on October 9th with tickets for the forthcoming tour available here.
