20th March sees acclaimed Spanish DJ/producer Danny Serrano release his debut EP on Mar-T’s Wow! Recordings, entitled ‘Snapp’.
Inspired by DJ heavyweights such as Laurent Garnier and Satoshi Tomiie, Danny Serrano has gradually positioned himself as one of Dance music’s most exciting exports, with past releases on labels including Get Physical, Viva Music, Noir, Saved Records and via his own imprint Eat and Beat Records showcasing his apt ability as a top-tier producer.
Kicking off the EP is the title-named track, ‘Snapp’, featuring a TB-303 acid-infused Tech-House groove that is accompanied by numerous off-kilter pad effects and warped vocal snippets.
‘Walking’ follows, seeing Serrano up the ante as the surging bass melody provides the foundation for soulful vocals, choppy drums and measured percussion to be layered over the four-to-the-floor beat.
Fellow Barcelona-based DJ/producer Reelow steps in to remix ‘Walking’, turning the driving Tech House number into a lively dancefloor workout, packed with pulsating effects and a deep, rumbling bassline.
Closing this excellent four-track release is ‘Cajmere’, featuring Montreal’s Forrest. Together, the pair offers up a Disco-inspired banger, employing cosmic synths, claps and trippy vocals to create a perfect euphoric closing number.
