Josh Butler returns to Nick Curly and Gorge’s 8bit imprint to open 2019 with three vibrant cuts in the form of his impressive ‘The System’ EP.

With releases on Hot Creations, Poker Flat, Rejected and Kaoz Theory, Josh Butler has firmly established himself as one of house music’s most respected talents. Owner of ORIGINS RCRDS, welcoming the likes of Kerri Chandler, Groove Armada and Richy Ahmed since its inception, the UK talent has successfully bridged the gap between classic US house and contemporary influences, bringing his unique take on the genre to a number of the world’s most notable institutions. 2018 was Butler’s biggest year to date, with a debut BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix kickstarting an impressive summer that included appearances at DC-10, Amnesia and Privilege in Ibiza alone. This success was mirrored in his releases as the title track from his ‘Rabbit Hole’ EP became both 8bit’s biggest selling track and Beatport’s second best-selling ‘Deep House’ track of 2018, and here we see Butler return to the label to deliver their first EP of 2019 armed with three fresh productions that look set to become firm favourites for many across the months ahead.

Title track ‘The System’ reveals a stylish house production typical of Butler’s trademark style, fusing rich piano melodies amongst dubby atmospherics and hypnotic stabs, whilst ‘Intergration’ combines infectious vocal interjections effortlessly laid over slick, rolling percussion arrangements and bright chords. Last up, ‘Microdose’ ups the tempo as tough, metallic drum licks, off-kilter synth builds and growling basslines work in unison to shape up yet another classy EP from the ever-impressing producer.
