Tim North Releases Summer Anthem “Idle Hands”
Acclaimed hip-hop artist Tim North returns his latest offering “Idle Hands,” OUT NOW. The track, a feel-good and radio-ready beat, details the relatable boredom and fear of missing out that comes with living in a social media world – an anthem for “FOMO.” Peppered with synthesizers, bass, drum machines, and infectious melodies, “Idle Hands” is the ideal track to throw on before a night out. North’s vocals sit perfectly between rap-based verses and a raspy, sung hook, reminiscent of the legendary flow of Post Malone, Blackbear, and Drake.
Based in Toronto, North’s expansive music career has led him across the map both literally and figuratively. As a rapper, producer, and songwriter, his work was discovered on SoundCloud by Dre London in 2018 (known for his work with Post Malone). This led to time spent in LA with Post Malone and his team, witnessing the composition of hits like “Congratulations” and “I Fall Apart.”
Success as a songwriter brought North opportunities to write with Louis Bell (Post Malone), Neil Ormandy (James Arthur) and Jenson Vaughan (Madonna). After writing a 4x Platinum international hit for Russian artist Eldzhey, and working at writing camps in numerous countries, he signed a publishing deal with Ultra Music in 2019. Since then, his solo work has garnered 1.2 million monthly listens (Feb. 2021), features on Spotify playlists such as New Music Friday and Cardio, notable press in Notion, and collaborations with Sammy Adams, K Camp, Rittz, and JRDN.
“Idle Hands” is an important extension of North’s artistry, dropping just in time to contend as a summer of 2023 hit. The accompanying music video cinematically juxtaposes North alone in an apartment with a night out partying, showing the natural progression of a modern weekend’s “FOMO.” Co-written with Jenson Vaughan during the pandemic, “Idle Hands” taps into a restlessness that any listener can understand, whether they’re spending their Saturday at the club or on the couch.
