Fairmont - You’re Already There

2018 is My Favorite Robot’s 10th year in action and it kicks off with a brilliant first EP from label stalwart Fairmont.

Jake Fairley aka Fairmont is an electronic music producer, live performer and DJ originally from Toronto, Canada, who has put out three albums, the last of which came on this label in 2012. His artful EPs come on labels like Border Community and Beachcoma and include the smash hit ‘Gazebo’. His last outing on the Robots’ imprint was in 2016 so this return is long overdue.

The dramatic ‘You’re Already There’ opens the release with slick and surging synths twisting and turning round rooted techno drums. Wordless vocals add emotion to the already expressive melodies that work up and down the scale and the whole thing really sweeps you up and off your feet in futuristic fashion.

On the flip, ‘Seesaw’ is a more dark and broody number that bubbles and boils and keeps you locked. The stomping drums and metallic hits are cut up by a spraying and fizzing lead synth line that is full of raw energy. The result is an all consuming track that really takes you on a trip.

These two latest cuts epitomise the always synth heavy musical style of the My Favorite Robot label and kick off their tenth year in true style.

Tracklist:

1. You’re Already There
2. Seesaw
