Now, as firmly established residents in UK festival party land, globally-renowned Ibiza dance Dons ‘The Zoo Project’ once again throw everything into delivering Europe’s premier boutique dance music event at their now permanent festival site in The Forest of Donington Park.
With bags of positive media reviews and ecstatic punter feedback from 2013’s event, plus being shortlisted for 4 awards at the recent UK Festival Awards, the Zoo Project Festival is buoyed to go even harder, faster and stronger for 2014.
One of the unique things about this festival is its personal and imaginative location in the magical woods and this time around will see Zoo Project Festival delve even further in to creating a mind-blowing, hedonistic experience amongst the trees.
Deeper in to the woods – deeper in to the music…
It’s fitting then, that this year organisers have made moves to book some of the most dedicated and influential crate-diggers on the planet. The line-up will pay particular attention to dance music’s true pioneers, without whom the scene just wouldn’t quite be what it is today. Of course, as is now expected from Zoo Project, the festival will also count the hottest new comers continuing their mantra of unearthing underground talent before they take off amongst its scintillating line-up.
The first acts to be announced include: Steve Lawler – a true leader and perpetual pioneer of the scene. 18 years on from organizing infamous early acid house raves under motorways, to unearthing today’s hottest new talent via his own label, he’s still pushing the boundaries of what a DJ can do, both technically and creatively. James Zabiela – a crowd favourite for many years now due to his technical mastery and live remixing skills, his live performances are a force to be reckoned with! Prolific Dubstep boss DJ Mala – who’s run the most influential Dubstep clubnight in the country ‘DMZ’ for 8 years and was even a favourite producer of a certain John Peel. Frenchman and Daft Punk collaborator DJ Falcon will smash out his unique brand of slickly produced bangers, plus DJ /producer Phaeleh – a huge favourite amongst critics and fellow producers for his intricate cinematic electro will also offer a welcome atmospheric distraction. Matt Tolfrey – “the perpetual young turk of London’s relentless techno carnival”. A whirlwind of success and good times follows this great British DJ, regular Rinse FM shows, critically lauded albums and remixes from his four record labels plus experimental music sets in the world’s best clubs make him an essential name on the line up. Those craving that full-on explosive drum’n’bass experience won’t be let down either – original nuttah Shy FX is on hand to dish out a typical set of blistering tunes from past and present.
Other acts announced so far are: Gang Colours, Pedram (live), Youandewan, Acid Mondays, Pedestrian and Blackhall & Bookless.
Of course – it’s not a Zoo Project Festival without a healthy pinch of OTT hedonism, indulged debauchery, mixed with some animalistic, caveman tactics. Zoo Project Festival will announce more of these attractions as the event approaches.
