Hi Lora, for those don’t know you, please tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from and how you first got into making dance music?
Hi!!! So I was Born in South Africa and my Father was a musician, so music has been in my blood since birth.
Describe your sound in 5 words…
Dirty, sexy, basslines, uplifting and chunky.
Who or what inspires your productions?
The inspiration can happen anytime, for instance on a long flight last week I went through a playlist of about 800 songs, and now I feel I need to remake some early 90’s vocals into something chunky for 2022.
What has been your most successful release?
Hmmm, there have a been a few, ‘Shine On Me’ on Toolroom and ‘Fresh Heartbreak’ on Strictly Rythym were biggies.
Your new single, ‘Do You Love Me’, ft. Kianja has just been released on BIG Speaker Music, what can we expect to hear?
Silky Luscious vocals, with a bit of chunky beat behind it.
What was the inspiration behind the song?
I’m always a fan on the contrast of beautiful vocals on a deep background track, so I really wanted to create that, and Kianja gave me her voice!!
What are your thoughts on the current House scene?
I just wish things were a little more organic, less focus and how many followers a DJ or producer has on Instagram, and more about the quality of his or her set, and music productions. I wish labels would sometimes be more open to having a wider range of artists.
What’s your studio set up like?
I have a studio set up in my home, its’ pretty simple but does the job.
When in the studio, do you have any rituals or bad habits?
Bad Habits, probably drinking way too much coffee.. rituals no, because I have 2 young children, so I get into the studio whenever I can.
Have you any plans to make an album?
I would love to put together a ‘Best Of’ with some new releases to add to the magic.
What was the last gig you played and how was it?
I am currently sitting on Necker Island, having just finished a 4 day insane party. I’m heading back to London to play one of my residencies.
Where are you most looking forward to playing this summer?
I am looking forward really to just having a full summer of gigs. I love everywhere I play, I love the fact that they are all so different. I say adventure is better than anything!

When you’re not making music or touring, what do you do to chill out?
I have 2 beautiful babies, a 5 and 6 year old, so I juggle being a present mother and crazy DJ ha ha!
What else is in the pipeline for DJ Lora?
I really love the balance I have at the moment, with my family and music production and gigs all over the world. Being a Mum, I would say is probably the biggest challenge, but also the best!!!
