Nile Rodgers – Do What You Wanna Do (Remixes)
Following the release of deep house juggernaut MK’s booming Disko Dub just a couple of short weeks ago, UK dance label Cr2 Records continue with their stream of high quality releases in celebration of their landmark 10thAnniversary with the next batch of dazzling reworks for Nile Rodgers – ‘Do What You Wanna Do (IMS Anthem)’. Turns from Grades, Chocolate Puma, Silversix and Rob Da Bank are all available to buy now from Beatport and fans can also preview each of the stunning reworks on Cr2’s SoundCloud.
Showcasing some of the incredible diversity and abundance of talent that exist across the entire ‘Do What You Wanna Do’ remix collection, these four tracks have been creating quite the buzz amongst fans and online tastemakers. UK up-and-comer Grades kicks things off, harnessing the smooth funky bass of the original and transforming it into a mammoth rolling bottom end, before seasoned pros Chocolate Puma push boundaries as always with a hard-hitting percussion-led stormer. Cr2’s own Silversix delivers a wonderfully crafted interpretation that builds the intensity throughout, making it just right both for late night club sets or outside under the sun at festivals. BBC Radio 1 stalwart and visionary Rob Da Bank then rounds off the EP with a dreamy, deep groove that retains the inimitable Nile Rodgers’ guitar work and keeps the disco flowing.
After Chic frontman and global superstar Nile wrote the official soundtrack to the 2013 International Music Summit in Ibiza, ‘Do What You Wanna Do’ was put up for auction to raise money for his We Are Family Foundation. Cr2 founder Mark Brown jumped at the opportunity to make a difference through this worthy cause and simultaneously share musical greatness with the world. It forms part of an exceptionally exciting 10th year for the London-based label, along with projects with the likes of Chuckie & LMFAO, Blue Marlin Ibiza and Space Ibiza to name just a few.
With just a week to wait until the final remix package from Moon Boots & The EEL drops on June 16th, fans can get stuck into these four and the MK mix as the anticipation builds. If the tension gets too much then head over to the Cr2 Records SoundCloud page, where you can whet your appetite with a glimpse of the full remix spread. The full radio version comes out on August 10th, so while there is still some time to wait for Nile’s own creation, you can immerse yourself now in these brilliant takes on the work of a true musical genius.
