Echomatik - Hanover

Jamaica sure does have a rich musical history, but have you ever heard of a house and techno scene over there? Me either, but the next release on Stereo Sauce comes from a pair who live in the Caribbean country and they are called Echomatik. On this four track offering they showcase their dark and steely techno sound in real style.

Realise opens things up with a funky drum line that rocks up and down and has all sorts of thundering synths, rail track percussive lines and melodies all colouring the airwaves. Night People then gets more macho and muscular, and has some trippy bleeps adding a real WTF factor to the grooves effect for late night dance floors. Then it is on to Zurich, which has slapping drums, frazzled bass and gallivanting kicks demanding you dance. Last of all, The Revolution is scene and soulful in a bleak but beautiful way and recalls labels like Minus thanks to its expert sound design. Some spoken monologues talk about machines and the revolution bringing the whole EP to an excellent end.
