Nesta - Hold Me/Drive Anywhere
2018 is shaping up to be a huge year for Nesta, who will be releasing an artist album in two parts, as well as an ensuing remix album, in the coming months. Before that we’re treated to two brand new tracks from the first full length.
Nesta is Lebanon based artist Nabih Esta. He has been producing and DJing for ten years now and has collaborated with various artists on this, his own label, in the past. Formerly a resident of The Garten, a club he co-founded, he now has a firm fan base who appreciate his experimental frequencies and fine engineering skills, as well s side projects like Le Merle and Technophile. His hard to define sound is set to make a big impact this year, starting with these new cuts.
Fantastically emotive opener 'Hold Me’ is awash with laid back chords that place you on a sunny beach. There is lush disco bounce in the drums and the jittery bassline encourages you to get up on your toes and dance beneath the twinkling keys. Breathless vocals add a sense of soul that will have fists pumping and good times flowing.
The second sizzling offering is ‘Drive Anywhere’, a chugging cut with raw bass and spine tingling hi hats all run through with a curious synth motif. It’s a spooky track that keeps you on edge and snakes through the night with dark disco intrigue.
Both these singles ooze charm and promise that the full lengths to follow will be essential listening.
