Alex Mine & D-Deck - KD RAW 006
KD Raw’s sixth of the best turns to Turin and the twin techno knowledge of Alessandro Martinelli and Mauro di Deco. Both former patrons of KD Music – see D-Deck’s ‘Not Yet’ and Alex Mine’s ‘Compromise’ – the pair lay bruising minimalism on a classic light-versus -heavy axis, where distress signals are hung out to dry on galloping, swollen drums. Telling you not to lose your nerve, ‘Stratos’ is an atmosphere both cavernous, and with a grip that you can feel tightening around your throat. ‘Dhom’ owns the doldrums with a synth loop emerging like a zombie vacating its crypt, reigning over a vast techno romp priding itself on traumatic magnetism.
