Welsh-speaking singer-songwriter Lily Beau is stepping into the spotlight with her highly anticipated debut EP, Little Old Me. Born and raised in Cardiff, with a rich Irish-Jamaican heritage, Lily’s soulful and introspective sound captures the emotional depth of unrequited love, quarter-life crises, and the healing process. After years of honing her craft within the walls of her bedroom, Little Old Me marks the culmination of a long, heartfelt journey—one that’s brought her from bedroom demos to major stages and radio acclaim.
Lily’s journey in music began early. Growing up in a household steeped in jazz and a love of cinema, her passion for storytelling came naturally. At just 12, she penned her first songs—innocent musings inspired by childhood crushes, including her infatuation with Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe. But what started as light-hearted childhood writing soon developed into a more profound artistic calling. By 16, Lily had moved to London to attend East London Arts and Music, a move that not only allowed her to nurture her talent but also paved the way for her future career in A&R, where she would spend five years learning the industry from behind the scenes.
But the artist in Lily never left. Throughout her time in A&R, she remained committed to her own musical dreams, writing and performing on the side. She performed Welsh-language songs and graced some of the UK’s most iconic venues, including the Troubadour, Proud Camden, and the Wales Millennium Centre. Lily also opened for major artists such as Jack Savoretti and Joel Culpepper and was a part of Tony Visconti’s Unsigned Heroes for Sky Arts, performing alongside legends like Bob Geldof and Imelda May.
In 2023, Lily joined forces with producer Nate Williams to bring her bedroom-written songs to life, resulting in Little Old Me, a collection of five tracks that blend pop, folk, and singer-songwriter influences. Each song reflects her personal growth as an artist, and the project has already garnered attention with singles “Too Close” and “Little Old Me” earning spots on BBC Radio Wales’ Welsh A-List and receiving praise from BBC Introducing.
