Michele Ducci transforms ‘I May Look Tuff’ by GregoryBeBad into a bright piano ballad!

Following on from the recent release of his debut solo album, ‘SIVE’, former M+A and Santii member Michele Ducci releases a cover version of ‘I May Look Tuff’ by GregoryBeBad, co-written by Gregory Josephs and Simon Milner of Is Tropical.

Ducci transforms the hip-hop style of the original into a piano ballad with a bright “ah-ah-ah” refrain sung by backing vocalist Letizia Mandolesi.

Lyrical themes of heartbreak and loneliness are interspersed with a wistful chorus:

“I may look tuff by my skin’s not leather

I haven’t had a hug in forever

My sighs don’t help me out in cold weather

But when I’m with you, it feels like it’s June and I wear my heart on short sleeves”

Says Ducci, “I met Simon Milner when I was in M+A and we opened the live show of his band Is Tropical. I love the way Simon writes, especially the crudest things about his latest Corpus Milner project. He is one of the few musicians I think I would have a great time collaborating with. I came across this song with GregoryBeBad and I immediately thought of making a variation. It’s a wonderful song that really makes you feel like you’re in June wearing your heart on short sleeves.”

The single is available on all digital platforms and on Bandcamp

Michele Ducci’s debut solo album, ‘SIVE’ is out now on Monotreme Records.
