Midnight Pool Party – ‘DON’T KILL MY VIBE’

Australian duo Midnight Pool Party have been busy working on a bunch of new material that they promise they’ll be sharing with us very soon, and they are indeed kicking it off this week with the infectious disco-dance sounds of new single ‘DON’T KILL MY VIBE’.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, Midnight Pool Party gave us a collection of singles which saw them exploring a wide range of dance music infused with R&B/Hip-Hop influences. While they loved every bit of that explorative process they have decided to hone back in on some of their more classic disco sounds for their first release of 2022, and as they reveal below, they drew their inspiration from PNAU’s remix of ‘Cold Heart’ by Elton John and Dua Lipa.

“We wanted to go back to a kinda more disco chill vibe for the next single. Instrumentally we were inspired by the Remix PNAU did for Elton John and Dua Lipa “Cold Heart”. We also were inspired by a few of Dua Lipa’s pop songs. A lot of the production behind her songs have inflections of disco and funk and we wanted to make a track that was catchy and poppy but with a disco flair.

Lyrically this is a song about walking away from toxic situations, focusing more on yourself and not letting anyone kill your vibe. It’s almost like a SELF-HYPE song, to kinda recalibrate yourself. Even when you get into bad situations, you can still start over again. No regrets, just onward and upward.” – Midnight Pool Party

‘DON’T KILL MY VIBE’ is available everywhere now and stay tuned for more new music from Midnight Pool Party very soon!
