Calussa joins forces with revered Latin phenom Fuego on their new collab “Noche Y Dia,” a frisky, Spanish-led house single arriving by way of Insomniac Records.
Miami natives Calussa have been establishing themselves as a force in the international house scene, spearheading a movement they’ve coined as “Afro tech.” Characterized by elaborate rhythms and cross-cultural cues, the subgenre commonly finds them weaving their Latin roots through branches of afro house and other global music influences. For their follow-up release on Insomniac Records, they are doubling down on their homegrown sound, as they go in-cahoots with the hit-making Dominican American vocalist and songwriter, Fuego.
The perfect fusion of their distinct sounds, “Noche Y Dia” is a steamy Latin anthem poised to steal the show. Sung in Fuego’s signature rap stylings, the sultry topline depicts a seedy, badass female who’s notorious for robbing hearts like it’s no one’s business. His nonchalant vocals alone are enough to keep the dancefloor hooked, yet the track digs even deeper with his suave sensibilities sitting alongside pumping basslines, swaying string leads, flickering synth accents, and gyrating percussive rhythms.
Touching on the collab, Calussa says, “‘Noche Y Dia’ really exemplifies the Calussa sound and movement that we have believed in and worked on for so long. The cross over between dance and Latin style music represents our roots and our passion.”
Calussa is the brainchild of Miami-born brothers and partners-in-crime, Andrew and Gino Gomez. They’ve put themselves on the map with an infectious sound that blurs the line between afro and tech house, all with a Latin twist. In February, they touched down on Insomniac Records with their label debut, “Te Recorde,” teaming up with Grammy-winning duo Subelo NEO on an intoxicating house single. Additionally, they’ve released collabs with house staple Nic Fanciulli, as well as explosive Turkish sensation Carlita. Since then, they’ve performed at high profile festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, EDC Mexico, and are currently embarking on the European leg of their Summer Tour.
Also operating out of Miami, Fuego has become a source of nonstop heat. His résumé reads like a star-studded affair, working alongside some of the biggest artists in the world while pushing Latin dance music ever-forward by combining crossover urban components with Caribbean mambo and Latin trap. Fuego made a huge splash in the house scene back in 2021, joining the brotherly Bronx duo The Martinez Brothers on their collab “PAP (Pendiente Al Paso),” which has amassed more than 17 million streams to date. J Balvin, Dillon Francis, Rick Ross, Pit Bull, and Anitta are a few of the top-tier names he’s released alongside, allowing him to surpass the combined one-billion stream mark across his catalog.
Between daytime radio play to late-night club use, Calussa and Fuego’s “Noche Y Dia” will be putting in overtime as it takes the world by storm.
