Sub Tactics Drop Their Self-Titled EP on Mutation Audio

Wasp’ and ‘Nexus 9’ were the first two singles to drop from Sub Tactics’ self-titled EP, proving they’re a duo who deliver thoughtful and deep drum & bass injected with a signature funk and soul. As well as their instrumentals and vocalist collaborations, adding a touch of live presence to their productions, they aim to keep their approach to music-making versatile. This is all showcased on their own label Mutation Audio and their brand new EP, which gave them full creative control over their work.

With a history of putting on DIY club nights and hitting the top ten across various download platforms, Sub Tactics are no strangers to success in drum & bass. This can be seen through the release of their full self-titled EP package, where ‘Wasp’ and ‘Nexus 9’ already took listeners down into the genre’s murkier levels, which continues with the sounds of four new cuts across its track list.

The deep rolling basslines of ‘Infrasound’ and its jaunty drum programming starts the EP’s fresh offerings, meanwhile ‘Be The One’ pushes through with Sub Tactic’s darker, jagged percussive edges. ‘Numb’ brings through the EP’s late night summer vibes alongside its distorted vocals. Then the final new track ‘Dancing Free’ ft. Clare Taylor shows the more emotive song writing of Sub Tactics, which still doesn’t lack any of their production bite.

This August sees Sub Tactics reveal one of their biggest bodies of work to date. Their self-titled EP highlights the full spectrum of versatility within the duo’s production, and it is just a glimpse of what’s to come on their label Mutation Audio.
