THE D.O.T – Shake Your Business Up and Pour
Off the back of the recent People Watching release from Mike Skinner and Rob Harvey’s project The D.O.T, the duo return with a 2-part video for Shake Your Business Up and Pour – a statement about bees and bashment. The release is available now on Mike’s self-titled label.
The duo reunited in the studio after a busy period working on their own projects. Harvey, of The Music fame, has been writing for a string of dance artists while Skinner has been founding his record label, Mike Skinner Ltd., DJ-ing, the London launch of famed club night Tonga, and continuing with his photography and film experiments.
On filming the video:
“Mike had wanted to go to Jamaica for many years. Especially Weddy Wednesdays which is the club that features in the video. During the planning of Tonga with Murkage, Mike realised he was hanging round some really connected Jamaicans and perhaps this was the time to tie it up into something that could be justified as work. So the day after the first Tonga night, Mike, Murkage Dave and Murkage Gaika flew out to the island of green, yellow and black. The experience was so good that they are already talking about going back but this time to shoot a feature. This would require that they know what they are doing before they get on the plane though”.
Skinner’s new label is not only a channel for his own material but also for showcasing the talents of his favourite new artist Oscar #Worldpeace, who features on the B-side to the new single, ‘Less Than Tomorrow’. The track comes accompanied with a typically zany video, shot by Skinner using a drone helicopter in Japan, almost landing him a spell at Nagoya prison.
With plans to release a new track every other month, alongside more videos, you can expect to hear much more The D.O.T throughout the rest of the year.
