It’s no surprise that The Great Northern is being discovered by the international electronic music community. Created by four doyens of San Fran nightlife and admitted ‘old school ravers’, it has evolved over two years into a world-class clubbing experience with cutting edge production, stunning future deco design (with 30 ft ceilings), aerialists, custom LEDs, projection-mapping and incredible 80,000 watt custom-built VOID Acoustic soundsystem. Its inclusive, underground atmosphere has attracted DJs of the highest calibre such as Honey DijonANNADixonPeggy GouGerd JansonFloorplanTale Of Us and many more, yet it still delivers one of San Francisco’s biggest clubbing spaces with 700 capacity.

May kicks off in style on Friday 3rd with international shapeshifting duo, KMLN (Kameleon). Italian producer / multi-instrumentalist, Christopher Tooker and Canadian DJ / producer, Shawna Hofmann blend live instrumentation with elements of deep tribal house and minimal techno. With releases on Crosstown Rebels and Sol Selectas, these festival favourites will create an unmissable vibe. Oceanvs Orientalis steps up in support to deliver his unique eastern take on electronica.

On May 4th SET presents two regulars on the mighty Anjunadeep label, John Monkman and Clarian. John Monkman, also known for his work on Sasha’s ‘Last Night On Earth’ and a series of killer collars with Pete Tong, is in demand around the world from Warung in Brazil, to Ushuaia in Ibiza, so is sure to give the San Fran electronica aficionados something to smile about. Clarian has also released on such influential labels as Kompakt, Visionquest, Hot Creations and Life & Death. Expect the dancefloor to erupt when he drops his unique brand of synth-laden techno. Morocco’s leading producer, Amine K will also step up with his progressive sounds to show why Oasis Festival has made him resident DJ.

Two legends, Guy J and Nick Warren go B2B on the coveted The Great Northern turntables on May 10th – a surefire sellout. Lost & Found label boss Guy J has carved an unrivalled reputation for his eclectic disregard of boundaries in electronic music and his hypnotic trips through the spectrum of house when he mixes. Nick Warren remains a bonafide superstar DJ – mixing multiple Global Underground compilations, one half of Way Out West, Cream resident, and now the man behind global label and events brand The Soundgarden – the list goes on. Guy J B2B Nick Warren is simply unmissable. Not to be outmatched, Mobilee fave, Rodriguez Jr lines up to show what he can do.

May 11th sees highly respected talent, Sam Gellaitry take to The Great Northern stage. May 17th welcomes A Club Called Rhonda to The Great Northern. The infamous L.A pansexual dance party is something every clubber should experience at least once. Melding a love of quality dance music with the golden age of clubbing, A Club Called Rhonda was created to bridge the gap between straight and gay clubbing. As i-D Magazine said “Attend a Rhonda party and you’re guaranteed a Bacchanalian celebration that will indulge even your most fantastic nightlife desires.”
Next up, Deep Blue & Opel bring one of the biggest names in house and techno to The Great Northern. Eats Everything takes to the decks on May 18th and will show the San Fran crowds the technical wizardry and unrivalled track selection which has turned him into a globally renowned and respected selector, from the coolest underground events to the biggest festival stages.

Wrapping up another incredible month of electronic music for The Great Northern, Outerlimits land on May 26th with a killer Bank Holiday line up. Butch flies in from Germany and is guaranteed to work the dancefloor into a frenzy. Whether he’s collaborating with Ricardo Villalobos in their ButRic project, or producing award-winning techno, he never disappoints. Audiojack also hit the decks.
