Weekend Recovery ‘Esoteric’

Today we take a look at the new album by Sheffield based Indie Rockers ‘Weekend Recovery’. The album is titled ‘Esoteric’ and is out now on all platforms via Criminal Records. The trio have had a great few years rising through the rock ranks and gaining important support both in the live circuit and from press.

‘Esoteric’ feels like an album that’s important for the hear and now. It’s a generational moment in time and feels like it’s a record that will resonate with the masses through testing times. Musically it’s gritty and full of determination – tracks like ‘In The Crowd’ and ‘No Guts All The Glory’ showcase a raw essence to the music. The production is harsh but it somewhat lets off a refreshing live energy that surprisingly works.

Lyrically lead singer Lori takes listening on a true journey of emotions. Throughout the album there’s feelings of anger, hate and sometimes sadness but it does feel like hope plays a big part as well. It feels like the band are standing up for working class and Lori is ready to scream, shout and lead the march for a better world.

Both ‘Her’ and ‘Departure Days’ show a new beauty towards Weekend Recovery’s sounds and it gives listening a chance to breath and take a moment from the relentlessness of the rest of the album. Vocalist Lori really gets the chance to show off her brilliant vocal talent.

An album for the people – Raw, heartfelt and important.
