Namito & Stevie R - Black Oasis EP
There is a certain end of days charm and sombre finality to the music that makes up the next release on Inside Out Records. It comes from label boss Stevie R and finds him teaming up with the talented Namito, someone who has worked with the boss before and between them they always get good results.
That is apparent as soon as you start Black Oasis, a psyched out tech roller with rubber kicks and meaning chords all making for a woozy and melancholic mood. Stepping up to remix is Ron Flatter, an Inside Out Records regular who keeps things deep and moody with his pitter patter percussion and snaking drums.
Secondly, Jay Tripwire then leaves his mark with a fascinating re rub that adds his own unique spin to things and makes the groove fresh and weird. Sparks of Soul is the second original featured. Over the course of seven minutes it bubbles and pops, brims and bristles and never really exposed, instead it slowly sucks you in over and over. It’s subtle music for those who have patience and is a great end to a great EP.
