Dantiez Saunderson & KPD feat. LaRae Starr – Place Called Home
As the son of techno legend Kevin Saunderson and singer/songwriter Ann Saunderson, it’s no surprise the Dantiez Saunderson has a natural gift for production, here making his Defected debut.
For the title track Dantiez collaborates with KPD, the South American DJ who has gained residencies across the globe and released across big labels such as KMS, Pacha Recordings and now Defected. ‘Place Called Home’ features the soulful vocals of LaRae Starr, who has featured on another Defected release; Phil Agosta’s ‘Lonely’. Her vocal is prominent and has a sound that nods to classic house.
The release also features a remix by Kevin Saunderson, whose Deep Edit Dub makes only slight variations to the original, making it slightly deeper making it more bass-driven. The final track on this release, ‘The Harp’, is more relaxed than ‘Place Called Home’. The track is again vocal, but less dance floor oriented, with the harp-like sounds giving the track a more tranquil feel.
