Laugh Your Head Off at Bestival

The music line up for Bestival’s Summer of Love is already looking mighty fine with a veritable who’s who of booty shaking brilliance that could easily keep you dancing all weekend long at Robin Hill this coming September, but as any  seasoned Bestivalites know, it’s not just about the music. This year we’ve got even more madcap off-the-beaten-track behaviour than ever before, including a pithy clutch of top drawer clowns that will keep you laughing long into the night.

Rob da Bank says: Aside from a dance, a sing-along and the occasional stiff drink, we do like a laugh at Bestival … which is why our head of comedy has only gone and booked another corking line up of comics, from Andrew Maxwell to Abandoman and Late Night Gimp Fight, which sounds like fun! We’re also bringing comedy up the hill to our ace new Slow Motion area, so if you can’t find it just follow the laughter”.

Jaw-droppingly good improv rap geniuses Abandoman will top the bill on Friday night, dazzling one and all with lightning speed rhyming chops and super-sharp barbs. Winner of Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, the Musical Comedy Awards and the Adelaide Fringe Festival’s Best Comedy Newcomer Award they’re completely unmissable!

We’re delighted to say that long-time Bestival favourite Andrew Maxwell returns to head up the laughter action on Saturday. If you like your comedy in your face, shouty, and with an Irish accent Maxwell’s your man. A double Edinburgh Comedy award nominee and a regular on your TV, Maxwell never fails to destroy the crowd with a mix of intrepid social commentary and on-point observation. Sublime.

The UK’s premier improv troupe The Noise Next Door top the bill on Sunday. With no rehearsal or script, between them the five-piece cabal of comedians have an uncanny knack of transforming audience suggestions into fantastically funny scenes and songs in the blink of an eye with a perfect blend of ludicrous characters, witty one-liners, epic stories, and explosive physicality that you won’t want to miss out on.

Kicking off from 7pm in the Bestiversity Tent in our brand new Slow Motion arena, there will also be side-splitting turns from some of the finest comedians currently getting audiences all hot and bothered on the comedy circuit, including Phil Nichol, Andy Askins, Daniel Sloss, Ian Stone, Late Night Gimp Fight, Titty Bar Ha Ha, Jollyboat, Joel Dommett, Kai Humphries, Benny Boot and Alfie Brown

Plus we’ll have rip-roaring fun from Jamali Maddix, Paul McCaffrey, Lolly Adefope, Wayne Deakin, Mickey D, The Herbert, Eric Lampaert, Elliot Steel, Tim Renkow, Amy Howerska, Brennan Reece, Garrett Millerick and James Loveridge.
