The Correspondents – Give You Better
The Correspondents latest single is a quick paced organ and guitar heavy blues stomper lamenting the decisions of an unrequited love. In this track you may well think the duo were a four piece band; Chucks’ digital instrumentation is tweaked and twisted to sound raw and live, particularly the resonance of the lead guitar. This rawness is further accentuated with the distortion off the vocals where Mr Bruce pushes himself to the ceiling of his vocal range.
For the music video The Correspondents’ very own Mr Bruce goes back to drawing board to make another animation. This time he uses a stop frame technique to bring to life scenes in a sketch book. Characters are drawn on the page and photographed, then erased, redrawn and photographed. This process is repeated 2000 times. They are then sequenced and combined with green screened live footage with stop motion graphics laid on top.
The end result is a visually rich narrative that unfolds with the turn of each page. It is a short, sweet, cautionary tale about a couple’s foray into the world of Tinder!
