The Date
The Date is set to head South for Brixton’s Plan B on Saturday May 16th. Despite a change in venue, The Date’s hedonistic philosophy remains firmly intact. The evening invites legendary acts to play to discerning crowds, on the highest quality sound systems.
The Date invites three gurus of the scene to their first Brixton party, on the main stage. Meanwhile, two accompanying rooms provide a feast of real house and disco/edits.
American producer, owner of highly regarded label Yoruba and in demand DJ Osunlade makes a debut with The Date. Having worked with luminaries like Roy Ayres, Patti Labelle and Salif Keita as a producer, Osunlade proves a celebrated talent. The Date welcomes the world class DJ for the first time.
A firm The Date favourite, Greg Wilson, returns with his ever popular sets of edits, classics and forgotten gems re-invented for today’s dancefloor. As a true originator, it’s always a proper party when Greg’s at the controls.
New York’s Johnny D has had a huge impact on house music’s history and progression, as owner of the hugely influential Henry St label. The ‘20 years of Henry St Music’ compilation is released on BBE records in May and includes huge club hits like Kenny Dope’s ‘The Bomb’, Van Helden’s ‘Funk Phenomena’ plus tracks from Sneak, Louie Vega and Todd Terry. The Date can’t wait to invite such an important figure and incredible DJ to the floor for the first time.
Quality support comes from guest-star Kyri. As the label owner of R2, Kyri promises an eclectic set. R2 released Osunlade’s ‘Piscean Group’ album, which is also to see release in May. R2 has been one of London’s most consistent labels for many years, releasing quality music from the likes of Floating Points, Karizma and of course, Osunlade.
As always The Date’s prominent residents Stuart Patterson and Tim Keenoy are on hand to bring their vast love for music and DJ history as support to the headliners, and to set the party off in fine style.
The Date invites you to two rooms of music, blasted on the highest-level sound systems, with an unbeatable line-up for house and disco lovers.
As with all The Date parties, advance invites are highly recommended as most sell out in advance.
