Copy Paste Soul - Steppa EP
Copy Paste Soul is back on his 2Swords imprint in early 2016 with the ‘Steppa’ EP comprising three original tracks from British artist.
2015 was yet another impressive year for Copy Paste soul with a string of material surfacing on the likes of Exploited, Suara, Intec and MadTech, plus a remix of the legendary Laurent Garnier for his F Communications imprint. Here though, we see the Annie Mac tipped producer push on with his own 2swords imprint, predominantly a label for his own material but has also played host to output from Jay Robinson and remixes from Laurent Garnier, No Artifical Colours, Dubspeeka and Man With No Shadow.
Title track ‘Steppa’ kicks off the EP and sees Copy Paste Soul deliver a bass heavy number with swelling subs, snaking filtered synth lines and mesmerizing resonant glitches, all running alongside his signature swinging percussive style.
‘K2’ continues to signal Copy Paste Soul’s gradual move towards darker sounds with its ethereal techno feel, airy atmospherics and dubby synth stabs lay the foundations while weighty rhythms and tumbling bass hits further drive the heady, upfront feel of the composition. ‘Hustle’ rounds off the package and strips things back to a smoother state with low-slung percussion, smooth pad melodies and swirling synth hits creating an ever-evolving dynamism throughout its seven-minute duration. ‘Steppa’ once again demonstrates the producer’s versatility and kicks off 2016 with statement of intent for the coming 12 months.
Copy Paste Soul’s ‘Steppa’ EP is out on 2Swords 25th April 2015.
